How it works
Statehouse procedure translated once, so it does not have to be translated again.
Each bill gets its own page: what it does in a paragraph, who introduced it, every action taken on it with a date, and a link to the official text. The summary is written by a person, not generated from the title.
Positions are labelled as positions. Facts are sourced to the official record. When something is unclear, the page says it is unclear rather than guessing.
Reading a bill’s status
- Introduced Filed and numbered
- In committee Where most bills end
- Passed House Third reading carried
- Passed Senate Both chambers agree
- Governor’s desk Sign, veto, or lapse
- Signed Law, with an effective date
Filled marks are stages a bill has cleared. The ringed mark is where it sits today. Every bill page carries this same line.
